2004 Mercedes SL500 – how to adjust the stereo?

Hi, I just bought the 2004 Mercedes SL500. I was told by the dealer there is no way to update the stereo (main unit) or secondary labor market. Is this true? I thought they could buy units through the market or at least very the unity of the head after 2005 or new (if you can use your iPod or MP3 player without having to use the FM transmitter). Does anyone know of audio equipment secondary market, which fits this car? Otherwise, any suggestions on how best to integrate the iPod/MP3 player? – How to install the AUX plug? – What if I will go with FM transmitter, which is effective and produces decent quality? Thanks for your help!
